A mixed group of local business people and geeks gathered in Kaka’ako last night to discuss Google+, Google’s recent entry into the social networking space. “Think Tank: Google+ For Business”  was held at The Green House at 687 Auahi Street, a recently expanded coworking space and workshop.

Car Clubs Bring ‘Toys 4 Tots’ to Kakaako

The “Toys 4 Tots Show and Shine” will be held this Sunday, November 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 100 Ohe St. in Kakaako, the large parking lot located across the street from the Children’s Discovery Center at Kakaako Waterfront Park. This year, the Aloha Mustang and Shelby Club of Hawaii is hosting a “Show and Shine” for all “Toys 4 Tots” participants after they drop off their toys.

Ready for APEC, But Just Barely

After nearly two years of planning and preparations, APEC is finally landing in Honolulu. This week’s events brings government leaders from around the world (including Punahou grad and U.S. President Barack Obama) to the Aloha State. That definitely means heightened security (which will disrupt traffic and other aspects of everyday life), and supposedly means escalated protest activity.

“The current owner, Kelli Chun, has quite a fun disposition about her. My conversation with her was very enlightening to learn that she also provides entertainment for children’s parties. During several visits at lunch time, I was quite satisfied with the quantity and quality for the prices of their meals. The beef stew/chicken katsu combo, mini teri beef plate, hamburger steak plate, and cheeseburger deluxe were good in my opinion.”

But today, during my visit to Zaratez for a snack and to talk story with Paul Zarate, the owner, informed me that his last day of business will be this Friday, October 28th due to financial reasons. Even though Zaratez won 2011 Ilima Award’s Critic’s Choice for the best Mexican food in Honolulu, it could not save it from the present economic conditions.

Kauai utility smart grid project approved
